Car Options That Are Eco-Friendly by Eva Rose
The more we depend on fossil fuels, the more we can expect to find our environment damaged by its effects. We need to see a shift and autos are certainly an area we can focus on. Automobile companies have begun to make environmentally friendly models in an attempt to reduce the detrimental effects of fuel emissions.
A car powered by a battery may well be the vehicle that is the least damaging to the environment. As the car runs on battery means has no need for diesel or petrol. Even though this looks good from the point of view fuel savings and the effect on the environment, there are drawbacks. The car engines themselves are somewhat limited at this time but the cars are now available to consumers. After a distance of around 100 miles, you will need to be prepared to give the battery another charge.
The hybrid car is another type of vehicle for consumers. They use both a battery and petrol and are friendly to the environment. So if you are interested to know, this is how it operates in practical terms. It is the battery power that is utilized first by the hybrid car. As the vehicle needs more power and reaches a ccertain speed, this is when it begins using gasoline. One big plus is the automatic charging of the battery as a result of the consumption of petrol, so you won’t need to do this manually.
There is also another group of vehicles, called plug-in hybrid cars. Plug-in hybrids are also friendly to the environment and work similarly to the hybrid vehicles mentioned above. There is one difference and that is that plug-in hybrid cars should be plugged into an outside source of power to charge up the battery, whereas the typical hybrid can automatically charge itself. In comparison to regular cars, you will see that hybrids are good for fuel efficiency.
The Prius is a hybrid car developed by Toyota and has been tested to go 50 miles per gallon. It is priced at roughly $22,000 and is now one of the market leaders. Toyota is not the only car manufacturer who jumped in, however; Honda introduced the ‘Insight’ and in fact this car was the first hybrid vehicle to be sold to consumers. It helped promote awareness among consumers for hybrids and opened the door for the Toyota Prius. The Ford Fusion Hybrid, which is sold for around $27,000, has various awards to its name. It has been acclaimed as the best American hybrid car produced. A hybrid car which is said to have zero emissions whatsoever is the i-MiEV from Mitsubishi. It was one of the first electric autos to be made by a Japanese car manufacturer.
We will see continued development for this kind of vehicle and a lot of alternatives for buyers searching for vehicles that are eco friendly.
